History
In 2001, the "First Annual Colorado Ski Trip" debuted as a forerunner for a tradition that would last 4
years.
4 years of 20 people sleeping on coffee tables and under kitchen tables. 4 years of debachery with the aid of a drink or two.
There's been old friends and new friends, but always a hell of a time and always decade long stories.
Since some of you will be new to this experience, let me be the first to welcome you and warn you. If you want to have a great time, it will be done.
If you're thinking you will be tackling trav across a table and having to repair a hole in the wall the next morning for your efforts...don't do it...it's been done.
If you're wondering if you might want to throw a kitchen chair into the fireplace, trust me, it's not a good idea.
Please be advised that balancing a large sub-woofer in the open window sill of the 2nd story window will certainly result in said speaker shattering on the pavement below.
We had a great run, but it was in the 5th year, in which the "Ski Trip" consisted of a few people crashing in my 6 foot
high ceiling basement and the "skiing" consisting of sitting on I-70 for 2 and half hours only 30 miles from Denver.
That was the end of the tradition and I've never heard the end of it. Thanks to Travis' excellent recommendation of reviving the tradition after 5 years,
old friends and new friends alike will begin the 2nd chapter of the saga.
Welcome
|
|
|
WELCOME!!!
Let me be the first to welcome all of you to the nth annual Colorado Ski Trip.
There have been several of these in the past years and each event seemed to trump the last. Expectations for this year is high
and I have no doubt expectations will be exceeded.
Thanks to Travis for reviving the tradition. Thanks to Tyrone for all the hours searching for the perfect house (ski-in, ski-out, mind you).
Make sure you bring a digital camera as there will be a photo scavenger hunt during a day of skiing.
We also have somewhat of a tradition of a "theme night". We've done 1970's, 1920's, etc. It can be anything, so throw some ideas around on the message board.
First response on the Board gets a free beer and a possible reach around.

|
Latest Updates
- $89 buck lift tix is still the cheapest I can find. King Soopers (a grocery store) is selling them at window prices now for some odd reason. I'm still looking.
- The Theme is between "80's Night" and "Anything Goes But Clothes". Start voting now.

If you want to pick us up that's fine. We were thinking we would be waiting at the bar at the airport for Travis and Dana. So either way is fine. What ever works for you....Can we go ahead and reserve a room for Thrusday night? Does it come with a maid and room service? |

copy of email sent to everyone:
Just want to touch base again. Only a few more weeks.
We can get into the house at 4pm on Friday. We should be able to get in there @ 2pm, but I won't know for sure until that Thursday.
Out of towners schedule:
Get here on Thursday Night: Jackie, Lisa: 4:45 Thursday - I can pick up at DIA, if you want Trav, Dana, Steve, Erin: 8:30 - renting a car
I have 3 extra bedrooms if any or all would like to stay at my house.
Get in on Friday Tyrone, Victor, Briana 11:06A Friday 1024 Frontier Are you guys planning on renting a car? Are you coming to my house before going up to the hills? Just going straight up there? Let me know. Either way works for me.
Scott - not sure when you're getting in. Let us know so we can work out transportation. Also, do you have a friend coming w/ you?
In towners (Brad, Chad, Kim, Melissa): Depending on how many cars the out of towners rent, I may or may not need a volunteer to haul some peeps up there.
Brad, Ashley is bailing on the trip. You still coming up for a night, eh?
I'm taking Friday off and leaving to the hills between noon and 2. Let me know what you all are thinking.
Finally:
Saturday night: "Anything goes but clothes" Theme. Start planning now. There will be 1st and 2nd place prize. |

BTW, I just googled "anything goes but clothes" and chose the images option...let me just say that all those fraternity/sorority bitches are weak. Their best ideas were either wearing penis socks or duct tape dresses. If anyone shows up with a duct tape outfit, I'll shove your face in the snow. |

I would prefer not to see Ty show up in only duct tape. We would then hear him complain the entire weekend how painful it was to remove.
That would cause Travis to punch him and Curtis would make good on his original odds. |

What is the theme then peacocks? I need at least 6 solid weeks of theme costume work time. Since we are flying, I am going to have to come up with some go go inspector gadget devices like a wig that comes out of a pen to save suitcase room. No one can make a wig pen in less than 6 weeks. |

Thanks Curtis Travis and I made some travel arrangements for the airport. We can always rent the gear while we are there but I thought I would check in case anyone had any extra gear. Always nice to save a few bucks. |

| |
Jackie, I don't know if you're going to find too much extra gear. I have a few odds and ends like hats and neck warmers. I probably have some ski pants you can use and possibly some for Lisa as well. Kind of depends on if they'll fit you or not. Jennifer gets a nice discount at Sports Authority so she may be able to hook you up as well. I'll talk to her. As far as dressing for skiing. 2 Things: Dress in layers and the less cotton the better. It really depends on the weather. If it's sunny and no wind....you'll get hot with too much gear. Don't worry about it too much, though....it is ski-in, ski-out so if you're not comfortable, go back to the house and adjust. You won't need transportation once we get up there. We'll have several cars leaving my house to go up there.
Out of towners....work w/ Jackie to get him a ride to my house or to the mountain. I can always pick you up from DIA as well. |

A few questions. Does anyone local to the area have extra ski gear Lisa and I can borrow? How warm should we dress we have never been skiing? We are thinking of flying in Thursday and Leaving Tuesday. Is anyone else coming/going on these days? Just wondering for transportation and lodging on the non ski trip days. |

Crown or refer to Briana's statement below. Maybe ingredients for paint can, Victor?
Odds:
Tyrone will be the first one to wipe out on the mountain.
Tyrone will be the first one with a bruised shoulder not caused from wiping out on the mountain, but instead from Travis' knuckles.
Tyrone will be the pool tournament champ and will be gracious for all the gifts he will receive for winning the crown...not to be confused with the other crown that I mentioned above, but would be happy with that crown as well. You are all confused now...odds are. |

You brought it up, so here we go...
If you want to go with a refreshing lite beer that not only gets the job done in buzz world, but also helps provide the body vital nutrients, then I mention the following:
Miller lite, coors lite, bud lite, busch lite, and natural lite.
If you want to go with a mid-tier beer that will serve the palate well, but will also require a bit more in the pocketbook, I nominate these:
90 schillings, dead rouge guy, sushine wheat, fat tire, 5 finger pale ale, and this list of other Colorado beers could go on forever.
Liquor?, whiskey, scotch, whiskey, spiced rum, whiskey.
That's what I got for now, thanks for your time. |

WE OFFICIALLY HAVE BEDS!!!
And we can almost ski right out of them and onto the slopes.
http://www.vrbo.com/73752
Dates are 2/18-2/21. We can get into the house @ 4pm on Friday and we have to be out by 10am on Monday.
Total cost for lodging is $2,477.66. This does not include any replacement chairs, speakers, dog hair or holes in the walls that will have to be taken c/o after the fact.
Right now we have 14, but there's ALWAYS a few stragglers at the last minute. And sometimes there's even bailers. I'll probably get a few kegs, bottles, snacks and omelet supplies as well and I'll bunch all that together for a grand total of.....well you do your own estimates.
If you have any particular brands of booze.....let me know.
I'll let all of you out of towners discuss travel arrangements and sharing of rental cars and the like. People are more than welcome to crash at my place on Thurs or Mon night, just let me know. If anyone needs a ride from/to the airport, let me know and I'll see what we can do. As a last resort, a shuttle from my house to DIA is about 20 bucks.
The odds on favorite for first to show a gonad is Trav.
The odds on favorite for first to show a nipple is....well Trav
The odds on favorite to get punched first is Tyrone....by Trav....or a ski bunny.
More odds to come.
Bring cameras....you're going to need them for our all day ski scavenger hunt.

So based on everyone’s priorities we need a 13 person hot tub on skiis with attached pillows, a kitchen and a pee filter so no one has to get up from the installed drinking table where gambling, quarters, and other fun naked activities will take place.
Easy…get that done Curtis. |

I know I'm a procrastinator but I'd better get my priorities in the log as well. Here they are:
1. Ski...this must be first since the last two ski trips netted 0 ski minutes.
2. Drink...this is probably why number one never happened...which is also why it's number 2 and not one.
3. Hot tub
4. Food
5. Giggles
6. Sleep
7. Repeat

2) Tanning
3) Laundry

1) Ski
2) Drinking
3) Ski

5) Eat
6) I can use the outdoors as my bathroom like a burly mountain man. |

Not so sure about step 5. Skiing after drinking sounds to me like step 6 will be trip to hospital lol...If you don't believe me, may I remind you of my wife's attempt to jump down a small flight stairs at the hotel after consuming 3 Sparks. "Everybody look at" *jumps flies tumbles to the ground* "I am OK." Only this time she will have skis on!
LOVE YOU HONEY |

Travis specifically requested my priority list, so here goes….
1. sleep
2. eat Travis’s breakfast
3. ski
4. drinking game
5. ski
6. eat
7. drinking game
8. Bathroom
9. Repeat
Can’t wait to meet everyone! Hopefully I don’t happen to meet the Leonards in the hot tub…. ;) |

My priorities then:
1. Chiefs Superbowl
2. Ski-in ski-out, or as close to slopes
3. Hot tub in case they dont have Cinemax
4. Bathrooms, lots of em
5. Nicer open area for the gathering of the ranks for cheersing and shennanigans
6. Bed |

I thought for sure number 8 was going to be sex in the hot tub; however, after closer observation, step 8 did say vacation sex which was proceeded by step 7 of getting naked in hot tub. |

|
12/24/2010 6:40:07 PM -

| |
Well it is only appropriate if I provide my priority list as well.
1. Alcohol 2. Gambling – Although this is not the gambling crazy bunch, but Curtis will make up for it. 3. Skiing, tubing, snow mobiling and of course, quarters. Look out wood table! 4. Hottub – I hope it warps us all back to the 80’s! 5. Breakfast – Just a tradition (expect omelets, made any way you like). |
|
12/24/2010 6:38:49 PM -
Briana
| |
My priorities are:
1. Beer 2. Numerous Bathrooms 3. Hot tub 4. An area that is Mountain Lion free 5. A bed to sleep in
That order is very specific by the way. That’s coincidentally also the order of activities I plan on participating in: 1. Drink beer, 2. Go pee**Must do before next step, 3. Drink bubbly in the hot tub with my h to the izzo’s 4. Romp around outside in the snow, possibly use Tyrone as a toboggan, 5. Sleep 6. Repeat.
If it’s not on my list, I’m not worried about it and will not complain about it. |
